New Level 2 In the Works!

After we met up in class we had a big discussion on what we wanted to do for the alpha build this week. We all were in agreement that we should definitely start working on revamping level 2, however level 1 did need some changes based on the critiques we got in class. So I ended up starting to design level 2 while everyone else focused on fixing up level 1. After we all agreed that this would be our plan we finished up our new sell presentation and I began to work on the new level.

For level 2, I wanted to implement some of the big ideas we were discussing, mainly having some type of panel for the player to stand on in order to open up the portal. Instead of opening up the portal, however, I figured it would be easier to open up an "electric field" which would be blocking the player from moving forward. The effects are still in the works, so for now it is just a block as a stand-in. But the player will have to traverse through the level, dealing with the new melee enemies along the way, and "hack" the two panels. After they go through that part, they are greeted with a new laser mechanic where the enemy ships off to the side fire lasers at the player, intentional or not since they are in a war. The player will then have to traverse through these lasers, along with the new enemies and the regular astroids in order to find the portal. I did not implement the lasers yet, however, if all works out well then Aman would have them ready for the alpha build. Overall, this whole thing took me around 4-5 hours since I needed to sketch out the level and then put it all into unity from scratch.
