New Beta Build released

This week, we worked on putting together a new build featuring the new, redesigned level 1. I continued working on the player camera which will be featured in the second build.


This week was unusually fraught with assignments for me, so I was unable to dedicate enough time to get the camera and UI mock-up done by this week.


Scene and naming management was done this week to make it easier for programmers and artists to collaborate and not get confused by redundant assets.


While wire framing the UI, I came across a very interesting case study which I hope will help me build out the final UI for our game.


Having subtle screen pop ups to make the player do something is better than having the player read off some kind of billboard. Here is an example:


This can allow for more interactive information dump for the player:


Game objectives will be provided on the top right like so:


Something similar can be found in the UI for Mass Effect Andromeda too:



And of course the player health:



All these UI blocks have a fish-eye look to them and that achieves a futuristic look that we are trying to go for in our game.


As mentioned previously, the menu is coming along and will feature the same subtle yet bloom-y border like feel from Cyberpunk:
